It has come to our attention that there are issues with some register offices no longer offering the option for couples to hold a '2 Plus 2' ceremony, (this is a ceremony for the bride, groom and two witnesses. This however is contrary to the Government guidance that couples should be entitled to a £57 statutory marriage ceremony if they choose. We are therefore taking action to challenge this.
On the appointment of Attorney-General of Australia, Lionel Murphy in July 1973, he changed the face of the marriage ceremony in Australia for all time by appointing Queensland mother and teacher, Lois D'Arcy as Australia's and the world's first civil marriage celebrant.

A registry office wedding is, as the name suggests, a wedding that takes place in a registry office. A registry office is a government building where every birth, death, adoption, civil partnership and marriage is registered in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Despite being a working office where many employees spend their days, there are rooms and spaces within the building that are specifically designed and decorated with weddings in mind. It may be an office by name, but registry office ceremonies take place in lovely surroundings. Many councils have registry offices located on their own premises, with dedicated grounds and gardens that are perfect for hosting a wedding. So, don’t be put off by hearing the words ‘office’ and ‘government building’. If you’re getting married on a budget or don’t want a large wedding, it’s worth visiting your local registry office to view the space and get a feel for what your ceremony could look like.
Check out the legalities on how you can get married, by a Independent Civil Celebrant?
Celebrants cannot currently perform legally binding marriages in England & Wales, so couples are required to separate their legal registration of marriage or civil partnership from their celebrant ceremony. This is a similar process to registering a baby’s birth and then having a Christening or Naming Ceremony to celebrate them.
A Celebrant means “a person who leads a ceremony such as a Marriage or a Funeral”, and is a professionally qualified person, usually from a non-clergy background, who is trained to officiate Funeral & Wedding ceremonies.
Choosing the right celebrant is very important, people remember how you made them feel. So you and your guests want a Celebrant who makes you feel amazing because they have created a very special ceremony for you. You need to choose a Celebrant who you feel a genuine connection with, you’ll need to feel comfortable with them and feel confident that they can create and perform the ceremony as you would expect.
When you have found a Celebrant that you would like to meet, (this could be me), it's one of the first things you should maybe do to en sure that they have the date of your wedding available.
You can secure a date with me up to 2 years before your wedding ceremony. What happens between then and the day of your ceremony?
